Every room has its own open-air bath and the public baths draw the ryokan's own reddish sodium-bicarbonate water, a colour particular to upper Gora. Expensive and quiet, a free pickup from Gora Station, and the Open-Air Museum and Gora Park are minutes away.

The baths

Indoor bath

Sounzan Kakurezato-no-yu, separate men's and women's public baths fed by the ryokan's own reddish sodium-bicarbonate source. Open 15:00-24:00 and 5:00-10:00.

Open-air bath

Each public bath has two open-air tubs: a rock bath plus a granite tub (men's) or a Shigaraki-ware tub (women's), facing the Hakone mountains.

In-room bath

ALL guest rooms have their own private open-air bath; for staying guests only.

Overnight guests only

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
