The village bathhouse of Ohiradai, run by the local onsen cooperative since 1951 and reached on foot from a switchback-railway station in the mountains. It is indoors only and plain, but at 550 yen it is the cheapest genuine hot spring in this dataset.

Getting there: 583 Ohiradai, Hakone-machi, a short walk from Ohiradai Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway between Hakone-Yumoto and Gora. No car needed.
