How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Indoor bath
Steam bath founded in 1276: a stone chamber of about 8 tatami, its floor heated by geothermal steam and strewn with sekisho herb, where you lie down for about 8 minutes (plus 2 more on request). Four people per sex at a time, so expect a wait. A hot-spring indoor tub is attached for rinsing off afterwards.
Open to day visitors
