Staying overnight
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private or in-room bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.

The baths
Indoor bath
Three separate in-house bathhouses ('Kichi-no-yu' in cypress, 'Fuku-no-yu' with a circular tiled tub, and a third looking onto the inner garden).
Open-air bath
Open-air baths attached to the cypress and Chinese-styled bathhouses, including an arbour-style bath in a bamboo grove.
Private (kashikiri) bath
Not on site. Honkan guests use the private open-air bath at the sister property Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei, a 10-minute walk away (shuttle available); reservation and fee apply and it is for staying guests only.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

- About 15 minutes on foot from JR Kinosaki Onsen Station; a free shuttle is available by advance reservation. Roughly 2h40m from Osaka by the Kounotori limited express.
