The outdoor rock bath and the single-person tub baths use natural hot spring water - but note it is trucked in, drawn from the Moriyama Natural Hot Spring 'Hotaru no Yu' source in Shiga Prefecture, from 1,300 m down through the Hira and Suzuka mountain strata. Weakly alkaline simple spring.

Indoor bath
Around a dozen different baths in total, including a recently added electric bath. Also on site: a restaurant, a hair salon, a relaxation salon and Korean-style body scrub.

- Yes — you can bathe without staying overnight.10:00-25:00 (1 a.m.), last entry 24:00. Closed Mondays, though this may shift when a Monday is a public holiday.
- Day visit price
- ¥890Adults (junior-high age and up) 890 yen on weekdays and 1,020 yen at weekends and on public holidays; primary school age and under 370 / 420 yen; under-2s free. Tax included. An 11-ticket book is 8,500 yen, valid one year. Towel set rental 250 yen. Admission-based, so you can bathe as many times as you like during your visit.

- In the Mibu district of Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. Five minutes on foot from JR Tanbaguchi Station, or get off at the Kyoto Research Park-mae bus stop (Kyoto City Bus routes 43 from Shijo-Karasuma, 73 from Kyoto Station, or 80 from Gojozaka-Gion). Parking free for up to six hours.
