The baths
Open-air bath
'Kawara-no-yu' milky white sulphur open-air baths, separate for men and women, free-flowing (kakenagashi). Open 24 hours to staying guests; day visitors 11:00-15:00 for one 90-minute session (adult 1,200 yen, child 630 yen, towels 200 yen each). Day-use payment is CASH ONLY.
Private (kashikiri) bath
Three private open-air baths (Kaguya, Medaka, Kingyo) and unusually they are OPEN TO DAY VISITORS. Staying guests book at check-in (no phone reservations) and pay extra: 45 min for 2,000 yen (Medaka) or 3,000 yen (Kaguya / Kingyo). Day visitors 11:00-14:00 with NO reservation, 60 min for 2 people: Medaka 3,500 yen, Kaguya 4,000 yen, Kingyo 4,000 yen.
In-room bath
Only ONE room has its own bath: the Deluxe Twin special room 'Fuyo' with a private stone tub (the site does not call it an open-air bath). Superior Twin rooms have a claw-foot bathtub; all other rooms use shared bathrooms.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

- From Hakone-Yumoto Station take the Hakone Tozan Bus from stop 3 bound for Togendai (20-25 minutes) to 'Sengoku Bunka Center Mae', directly in front of the inn. Direct highway buses from Shinjuku (about 2 hours 10 minutes) also stop there, so a car is not required; free parking is available.
