The baths
Open-air bath
The whole facility is a single open-air rock bath cut into the shoreline at the tip of Cape Yuzaki, with nothing between you and the Pacific: the town describes it as a bath where 'the sea and the spray press right up to you', and the tub and the ocean read almost as one surface. Waves break on the rocks a few metres away and sea spray reaches the bathers. Men's and women's baths are separated (the town's rule separates the sexes from roughly age 7). There is no roof, so the bath is fully exposed to weather. This is the last surviving tub of the ancient 'Yuzaki Nanayu' seven springs, recorded in the Nihon Shoki and the Man'yoshu.

- Yes — you can bathe without staying overnight.8:00-17:00 (Oct 1 - Mar 31) / 8:00-18:00 (Apr 1 - Jun 30 and Sep 1-30) / 7:00-19:00 (Jul 1 - Aug 31). Last entry 30 minutes before closing. Open daily, but closes without notice for maintenance and when the sea is rough.

- About 20 minutes by Meiko bus from JR Shirahama Station to the Yuzaki stop, then a short walk to the cape; there is a car park beside the bath. Reachable without a car.
