How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Open-air bath
A very large open-air hot-spring pool sitting directly on Shirarahama swimming beach, so you soak in hot spring water with the white sand and the sea in front of you. Swimwear is required and is the reason many visitors find this the easiest bath in Shirahama to use: the town states plainly that 'even though it is an open-air bath, here you need a swimsuit'. Mixed, and open only in the beach season.
Open to day visitors
