The village bathhouse of Shiramine, a former silk-and-charcoal mountain settlement in the Hakusan foothills. 100% source water, sodium bicarbonate, locally called the 'silk-skin bath' for how it leaves the skin. Indoor bathing.

- Yes — you can bathe without staying overnight.Weekdays 12:00-21:00; Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 10:00-21:00 (last reception 20:30)

- ¥750Adults 750 yen, elementary school children 360 yen, children aged 3 and over 260 yen. Closed on Tuesdays (the following day if Tuesday is a public holiday) and over the New Year period. Note the late weekday opening - it does not open until noon Monday to Friday.

- Deep in the mountains of Hakusan City, about 80 minutes by car south from the Hakusan interchange along Route 157, or by Hokutetsu Hakusan bus to the Shiramine stop. This is a genuine mountain village stop rather than a resort - useful if you are driving between Kanazawa and the Hakusan trailheads, and impractical otherwise.
