Hot spring water spread across two floors of themed European and Asian bathing rooms, plus pools, a stone sauna, a gym, restaurants and rooms upstairs - it is built for a whole day and it is right on top of Dobutsuen-mae Station. What you look at is theming rather than scenery, and the crowds in Shinsekai are part of the deal.

The baths

Indoor bath

Two themed bathing floors, Europe Zone (Ancient Rome, Greek herbal bath, Atlantis, Blue Grotto, Finnish sauna) and Asia Zone (Islamic stone bath, Persian bath, Bali, Singapore Spa). The two zones swap between men and women periodically, so which one you get depends on the date.

1,500 yen is the onsen-only rate (junior-high age and above), same every day. With pool access it is 2,000 yen on weekdays and 2,700 yen on weekends/holidays. Staying inside between 24:00 and 05:00 adds a 1,300 yen late-night surcharge plus 150 yen bathing tax.

Right outside Exit 5 of Dobutsuen-mae Station (Osaka Metro Midosuji / Sakaisuji lines) and the east exit of JR Shin-Imamiya Station, in the Shinsekai district. 10 min walk from Nankai Shin-Imamiya, 15 min from Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi.
