- Getting there
- In Wakura Onsen on Nanao Bay, reached from JR Wakuraonsen Station at the end of the Nanao Line. Listed here as a closure warning rather than an option: Japan's most famous ryokan - the one that topped the professional 'best ryokan' poll for 36 consecutive years - has been shut since the January 2024 Noto earthquake, its guest wing has been demolished, and booking sites and guidebooks still show it as if it were taking guests. Do not plan a trip around it.
