How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Indoor bath
Spacious indoor baths ('Yudokoro Souun'), separate for men and women; alkaline simple Hakone Yumoto spring, circulated and chlorinated, with a low-temperature (approx 50C) infrared sauna. Staying guests 15:00-25:00 and 5:00-10:00; day visitors 12:00-20:00 (changing to 13:00-20:00 from 1 Oct 2026), no re-entry, closed to day visitors 31 Dec - 3 Jan.
Open-air bath
Open-air baths attached to the men's and women's indoor baths, surrounded by greenery. Same hours and same fee as the indoor bath; no separate charge.
Private (kashikiri) bath
Four private family baths up about 30 steps from the main bath entrance: one large (4-5 people) 3,000 yen and three small (2-3 people) 2,000 yen per 45-minute slot starting on the hour. RESERVATION recommended (same-day arrangement possible); the online advance form is for staying guests only. DAY VISITORS MAY USE THEM but must pay the bathing fee separately. Staying guests 15:00-22:00 and 8:00-9:00; day visitors until 20:00 (last reception).
In-room bath
Only ONE room has hot-spring water piped in: the barrier-free 'Onsen-tsuki Superior Twin' (48 sqm, 4F main building). It is an indoor bathroom, not an open-air bath.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
