The baths
Open-air bath
MT FUJI VIEW (weather permitting - the operator is explicit that Fuji can be hidden by cloud even on a clear day). Two separate open-air bathhouses, 'Acchi no Yu' (the newer, more open one) and 'Kocchi no Yu' (the original), both looking down over the Kofu basin with Mt Fuji beyond. All baths are gender-separated. Opening before sunrise is the point: sunrise from the bath is what the place is known for, and after dark you get the basin's lights and the stars. Highly alkaline pH 10.1 water.

- Yes — you can bathe without staying overnight.From one hour before sunrise until 22:00 (last entry 21:30). Open all year.

- ¥900900 yen buys one bath - either 'Acchi no Yu' or 'Kocchi no Yu'; each is charged separately. Children 0 to 6th grade 400 yen. Own-brand towel 200 yen, bath towel 1,000 yen.

- At 1669-18 Yatsubo, Yamanashi city (山梨市矢坪1669-18), on the hillside above Fruit Park. About 10 minutes by taxi from Yamanashi-shi Station on the JR Chuo main line; the city bus runs only four times a day and stops 20 minutes' walk short. Free parking for 280 cars. Winter tyres or chains advised in winter.
